1.5 m long, 45mm diameter!
These monster vacuum tubes are just beautiful to light up!
Erm...no practical use for them, as far as I am concerned, just a work of industrial art.

Testing the Sony Nex 7 (if you're damned lucky) SWIMSUIT shots
Just 4 out of 100 or more pictures.
The Nex 7 was a VERY difficult choice, I had over 5 years downgraded from a Canon full frame 1Ds to a Lumix, as seen in the Seiko visit pic.
Here is the Nex 7 with the only black made in China lens....in its arsenal, or rather small selection, of lenses.
BUT...I am sure that much more would appear.
If you are a macro, watch taking person..this camera is well worth it.
Being a GUY...I really don't find sceneray interesting..so ..if anything, pictures of any girl, especially those of your friends...they would be only too happy to help.
A decent swimsuit is always useful.
All shots have to be retouched.
Macro lens.
Hmmm..skin texture is always a problem..as I am not at all a pro.
Pics also had to be taken by a better person.
PS I don't own the copyrights of the girly pics.
BUT...I think its much more fun having girls model with swimwear than with just their faces!
That's just being a guy!

The Sony proved to be made in Thailand, but the quality of construction is soooo good, you would find that the Leica M8 is NOT as well made..seriously, as I compared them, as an owner of both, side by side.

The process of buying a car in Singapore
Cars are simply VERY expensive to buy/own/maintain in Singapore.
The plus side, is that you can drive them most times...90% of the time.
Not that many jams if any.
Car population is somewhat controlled.
But it also means that a simple, inexpensive car, like this Juke, which in turbo form, will cost $150,000 with a certificate to run it for 10 years. Afterwhich, you may need to buy a new certificate for maybe $45,000 to $90,000 which will last another 10 years, and so on.
Now you know why in Singapore, someone would rather buy say..a richard mille wristwatch.
We pay 10x what others will pay for their cars in the USA/UK.
And they get to keep them.
We can only keep them for 10 years.
I wanted to get a Toyota 86 for dad. But he is 81...and that car is rather low.
Yes..that's the one above...
A Porsche Boxster was top on my list, again low.
I need a car that could be fun...and also easy for an 81 year old to get in and out of.
I like the Juke..funky...and with the red low profile wheels...cool.
And much cheaper than a Boxster.
Well..we will see.
This is one car that has been really designed by people who seem to love cars...something like an ahci wristwatch, made by genuine watchmakers.
Which always brings me back to my favorite gripe, people who "make" watches today, because it is good money...charge more, and even more silly mainly noveau riche people will buy them, for no reason than it is "expensive"...to demonstrate their spending power or the thickness of the wallet.
I was NO BETTER.
But in all honesty, today...I really do buy ONLY watches that I believe are worth what I am paying for.
Hence my recent love for Seiko.

Britto, Dali, LV, Hermes, Ron Arad, Leica, Walter Knoll in untidy coexistence
Is there a relationship between depression and homes/offices that look like this?
Are people like me disrespectful of brands..yes.
I personally feel objects and material things gain value thru the patina of use...and while not in use, should be left lying around the home to imbibe an atmosphere, to the occupants, of humanity.
Well, if you ever do drop by my home...it will look like this or worse.
Rest assured...it's an Alladin's cave.
But only in security high Singapore. I know that every inch of this house, except the toilets and the beds are monitored by a 24 hr closed circuit tv system that uploads into the "cloud"...and the local police have acess to it...all the time. Security is one thing, but paranoa that one could be robbed is another.
I don't think I can live in a tidy house.
I could always enjoy that kind of clean lined look at almost any store or hotel.
THIS is however, just "me".
Damned..the house is like a casino. Monitored by both wired and wireless cameras, and you can spot them if you look carefully.

$6,000 usd watches that will raise eyebrows
The cross over from watch to jewelry to art is full of deep pits. But..in spite of a 50/50 split in like/dislike...the russians and the australian crowd has taken well to this totally and purposely roughly made watch, to poke fun at all of us who harp about "fine finish".
I am also supportive of it, because for ONCE...this maker, Artya, is NOT claiming how good his watch is, rather...he is making a distinct social statement about obsessive people who buy watches, and don't wear them for fear of a scratch.
They have old Omega/IWC/ETA movements.
They are rather water proof, I bought 3 and swam in the sea with all of them.
I travel with them.
I have no fear of scratches!
I had a gentleman buy one right off my wrist in Paris last year...for the same price that it is being sold for at one outlet in Paris, that sells art objects.
There are no single watch that will be the same.
Each is completely handmade, over a week or two.
And judging from the complete randomness of the finish and the humour...I believe it.
This is the ONLY brand that does not take itself seriously...visit their Artya website!
If you hate people who show off their expensive watches, and are almost always trying to tell others how rich they are...this will shut them up.
If you find a good looking piece, buy it.
It is total rubbish...but belongs in the Pompidou. It is still art...IMHO.
