On my way to LONDON...in 5 mins.

Many many years ago, in the 1990s.
The watch called Panerai was not just unable to sell.
It was rejected.

All sorts of reasons, but I like it because it was at the time considered VERY UGLY as well as total BS of resurecting an italian watchmaker in switzerland? With Swiss movements? And a totally unusual story that was pulled out of the cloaca?

Today, Panerai is, after 20 years...a SUCESS story.

It also made me a rich man, buy low....sell high.
Chuckles.

I know, I said in many interviews that it will not happen again.

I think I was VERY WRONG.

But this time, because I cannot sincerely claim that I lack wealth, I am MORE than happy to stick my neck out...and either be twice as rich again, or be the laughing stock of the world....heeey..that's life!!!

Look for the SEIKO Galante..they are labeled sbla 061 and 065...for example...and they are made 30 to 62 pca a year..Opus level!

AND...it is affordable to normal people, costing less than a Rolex.

EVERY piece, incld bracelet is hand finished and assembled in Japan...NOTHING is done outside.

Even the crystal is of lens standard.

Have fun,,,I will be back on wed next week.

  1. Hi Bernard,I have always enjoyed reading your posts while in PuristPro. I love your passion and zeal for watches and most importantly, for life:) I too share your passion for seiko watches. Without you to inject life, IMHO, I find Puristspro to be a boring place for hypocrites to post and feel good about themselves. Take care

  3. Clement,
    Quite. I agree.
However, the purists as I analyse them, is a very large chunk of the world taken as a very niche sample.
It has seen better. Much better times, when it had an ability to critique, cut and analyse without prejudice.
But as it conforms, as it it is inevitable, because profit reigns above truth (corporate think), the change is a MUST.
I cannot moderate as such, and that was why I resigned.
But I love the purists as it is still. Because it tries hard to swim. And as it drowns, it has to pull me down....1 swimmer cannot float up 1,000.
